E6 Peace Day Activities: Erasmus+, Poland and Peace

PEACE DAY ACTIVITIES

Peace Day, free image in Pixabay.
To celebrate the Day of Peace, we have decided to join Peace and Poland, as this is the city where we will have our next mobility.
This year was the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and the liberation of the concentration camps. Bearing in mind that Poland was one of the countries most affected by this conflict, that Auschwitz was one of the most famous camps and that a person as important as Anne Frank was in it, we decided to work with all these elements to reflect with the children on all that was experienced.
We worked in a way that was adapted to each course in each class. At each class, a different level of detail was achieved, adapted to the needs and ages of the children. The activities are contained in the official blog of the project.

Next, we show some work evidences with photos and videos.

Our students made the flags of Poland and the other countries participating in our Erasmus Project. They were displayed in the joint school activity.

Students watching some of the videos we selected for the celebration of this educational event.
Alba and Carlota were very motivated by the topic and did some small research on World War II which they presented. These were presented to their classmates.
A big poster about the past and future of Auschwitz was made by pupils of 6th A.

The whole centre commemorated a celebration they do in Warsaw. One day the city is silent and paralyzed, while the sirens are heard in homage to the victims of the war. Each class group represented a collective of workers.
SWEEPERS
NURSES
JOURNALISTS
BAKERS
The students read the following manifesto on behalf of Anne Frank.

During the minute's silence a tune by Frédéric Chopin was played, as he was a Polish musician.
At the end, all the members of the activity, teachers, students and parents, gave a big applause in memory of the victims.
These are pictures of our group as a united center on this important day.

Peace Day Activities

PEACE DAY 19/20
Here we propose some topics, web pages and activities that teachers can use for the PEACE DAY having to do with Poland, the city where our next mobility will take place.
The fact that they know deeply about this conflict is the best prevention in order not to repeat it. Because of their importance during the Second War World, the first thing is a video for kids explaining the situation of Europe.
1. SECOND WORLD WAR (CONTEXT).
2. ANA FRANK.
We can work the character of Anna Frank to explain the situation of the Jews in Poland and Germany. We can do a play, a project, watching videos, drawing comics about her.
3. AUSCHWITZ CONCENTRATION CAMP.
Anne Frank was in a concentration camp called Auschwitz in Poland, here you are some information about this place:
We can explain what kind of place is, how it works, how people was treated and that now it is a place to visit and not forget (every teacher choose the level and detail to work this).
4. CINEMA MOVIES AND DIRECTORS FOR PEACE.
ROMAN POLANSKY: Polish, THE PIANIST. A film about the life of a great Polish pianist during the Second World War in Warsow (Wladyslaw Szpilman). We can watch the scene of The Pianist being discovered by a German soldier, playing by Chopin in the piano and how both are able to forget that they are enemies in that fragment of the movie. AN EXAMPLE FOR PEACE!!!
STEVEN SPIELBERG: (He is not Polish, but it has Jews origin and is closely related to Auschwitz and Jews problem during the Second World War). THE SCHINDLER LIST is his movie about a person, OSCAR SCHINDLER that saved thousand of Jews people. In this scene some of the survivors represented in the film, in pairs with the actors and actresses that play their roles in the movie, put a stone on the OSCAR SCHINDLER tomb to simbolized the number of people who was saved by him.
5. MUSICIAN FROM POLAND.
FREDERIC CHOPIN (one of the greatest Polish composers and musicians of classical music in the world). His music is representative of Poland, it was used in the film of POLANSKY. THE PIANIST (USED IN A VERY FAMOUS ADVERTISEMENT OF MILK IN SPAIN).
WOJCIECH KILAR
WLADYSLAW SZPILMAN: His biography is represented in the film THE PIANIST by POLANSKY.

European Day of Languages

As every September the 26th we celebrate in our school the European day of languages.

We aim to raise students' awareness about Europe as the continent we live in and all the spoken languages we have.

After having a general idea about the countries and languages our next step is to locate Erasmus+ partners countries in our map for our Erasmus+ corner.

If you click on the picture below you will see our wonderful pictures made from students in third grade of primary education, students' group 3ºB.
