 Evaluation on Good Practices on topic 3: Cyberbullying - "The Club of the Braves"

For the evaluation of good practice in Unit 3, we used the questionnaire which is shown below.

The questionnaire was answered by 14 teachers from the project countries.

For 92.9% of the teachers, the approach of the activity is appropriate for the age of our students; it is well organised and clearly explained; the proposed objectives were achieved; the resources and materials provided were useful; and the students were motivated by the activity.

All of them think that the contents of the programme are appropriate and related to the topic of Prevention of cyberbullying. 

78.6% of the teaching staff consider that the timeframe for carrying out the activity (3 months) is adequate for the development of the activity.

Regarding to possitive comments teachers have commented on which of the activities carried out in our schools they liked the most. The got feedback from their students.

• "We liked the moment of creation of the standard with assemblies; we liked it when the teacher explained the rules of assembly to us and we have to guess the rule behind each drawing; we liked the gathering about the reading The Club of the Braves; the pictures in the story were very creative; we loved that all classes had a fortnightly meeting via video call to exchange our work; the posters with the rules of the Assembly".
• "In primary school, activities related to bullying and upstanders".
• Teachers highlights the promotion of the following values: cooperation, motivation, team spirit, respect and non-violence. "Students enjoyed the tale that we read about the bullying and talking about the feelings and reactions of the people in conflict situation".

Concerning difficulties or drawbacks teachers suggested the following:

• "It would be lovely to have the book (the real one) in our schools".
• "Some difficulties with technologies (downloading images) and sometimes the sound of video calls was not quality".
• "For a small group of children, in the initial phase, it was difficult to talk about some situations they experienced firsthand".
• "Some difficulties related to the language".

Teachers suggested some changes such as:

• Designing more large and collaborative posters.
• A more easy to follow translation of the spanish video could be helpful.

Finally teachers and students made some observations such as:

• "Children absolutely love the activities".
• "We would like more frequency in the project classes".
• "The themes thrilled the children, who participated with great interest and involvement in the proposed works".
• "It was a great experience".
• "It is not easy to implement a brand new method to a school where there are some actions already made against bullying with rather different approaches (peer mediation based on nonviolent communication, in our case).

On a scale of 0 to 10, satisfaction with the programme was 9.29 points.

     Somos nuevos por aquí y estamos encantados de poder leeros y también de poder compartir nuestra pequeña aportación con todos vosotros.

    Después de leer el libro titulado "El Club de los Valientes", los alumnos de la clase de 4º B nos sentimos un poquito más afortunados. Os contamos porqué. Con su historia no solo hemos aprendido a ser más valientes, también hemos aprendido a ser mejores seres humanos.

    Hemos comprendido que los problemas no se solucionan con amenazas, que no tenemos que cumplir las órdenes de los demás por miedo, que los problemas se solucionan de forma pacífica sin utilizar la fuerza, ya que utilizar la fuerza es de cobardes.

    También hemos aprendido que cuando las cosas se "ponen feas" tenemos a personas a nuestro alrededor dispuestas a ayudarnos, solo que a veces tenemos que pedir esa ayuda. Formando nuestro propio club podemos vencer al miedo y ser más valientes que nunca.

Valientes, si alguna vez necesitáis ayuda, no dudéis en pedirla. Nosotros, estamos aquí, a vuestro lado.

Normas de la Asamblea

Las asambleas son un recurso para el aprendizaje y la práctica de la democracia. Es el espacio ideal para ver las diferencias en positivo, apreciar la inteligencia de todos o ser solidarios los unos con los otros.

En nuestro caso vamos a realizar esta actividad para reflexionar y debatir acerca de la convivencia de nuestro centro, porque queremos una escuela libre de cualquier tipo de violencia, en especial del ciberacoso o ciberbullying. Queremos una escuela como la de Alan, del Club de los Valientes, en la que todos los chicos sean valientes.

Las asambleas son un lugar en el que el alumnado y los docentes expresamos nuestras opiniones sin miedo y en un plano de igualdad. Soñamos el centro que deseamos: Un centro óptimo en el que todos nos comprometemos para conseguirlo.

La asamblea tiene una trascendencia institucional, es decir, todo lo que hablemos y consensuamos en ella llegará a todos los espacios del centro.

Las asambleas son importantes porque:

• Aprendemos a expresar nuestra opinión y escuchamos la de los demás de modo respetuoso.
  
• Escuchamos y sentimos que nos escuchan. Aumenta nuestra autoestima, nos sentimos bien.
  
• Reflexionamos sobre lo que se está debatiendo.
  
• Creamos nuestra opinión en construcción y teniendo en cuenta la de los demás.
  
• Respetamos unas normas.
  
• Valoramos y respetamos las opiniones de los demás. Es muy bonito cuando descubrimos que en nuestra escuela se está llevando a cabo algo que propuso otro compañero.
• Nos motivamos a llevar a cabo las propuestas que mejoren la convivencia de nuestro centro.
• Aprendemos los mecanismos de participación democrática como son: acuerdos, pactos, votaciones y consensos.

Para la realización de esta práctica seguimos unas normas que nuestro alumnado ha estado trabajando en las dos últimas semanas.

El grupo de "5º E" ha realizado un vídeo que exponemos a continuación.

Exposición de trabajos: The club of the braves

Presentación de todos los trabajos: 

Empezamos con 5º B, hicieron un PowerPoint sobre sus propias opiniones sobre  "El club de los valientes", (la verdad es que nos gustó mucho).

Continuamos con 5º A, hicieron un vídeo con los trabajos de "El club de los valientes" (estuvo bastante bien). Tras ello, seguimos con 5º C, que hizo un coloquio y dibujos colaborativos con una presentación (nos pareció la verdad bastante original).

Y ahora presentaron los alumnos de 5º D y 5º E con una presentación en el blog y dibujos creativos, (estaba bastante presentable, además los dibujos eran muy bonitos).

Los siguientes fueron 6º A que hicieron reflexiones sobre el libro.

Después continuamos nosotros (6º B) con resúmenes, un comic (hecho por nosotros dos, más una compañera), un teatro de marionetas y un lapbook. Nos felicitaron por nuestro trabajo ya que hubo algunos trabajos muy originales.

Y por último pero no menos importante 6º C que hicieron reflexiones, murales, con las aportaciones eligiendo una palabra que debía permanecer y otras que teníamos que eliminar, como por ejemplo la palabra normalizar, ya que no podemos normalizar situaciones como las que vive Alan.

Creemos que este trabajo ha sido muy importante ya que nos enseña que no se debe hacer bullying y que siempre es importante respetar a los demás. Además nos parece muy bien que se traten y trabajen temas como el bullying para niños pequeños, ya que es imprescindible que la gente se conciencie de como actuar desde pequeños.

Drawings about the Club of the Braves

Once we have read the book and/or watched the video of "The Club of the Brave", each class has creatively worked on the characters and scenes of the story.

In the case of the 5th D and 5th E classes, the pupils have chosen to draw pictures which we have captured in a Google presentation and which we share below. We hope you like the final result.

The works have been presented in the cybersecurity class we hold on fortnightly Mondays. The rest of the groups will present their final products in this or future publications.
